The Tone was filled with rafts, hydrospeeds and kayakers today as the weather warms up and the river flow steadies out.

今日の利根川はラフトに限らず、カヤック、ハイドロスピードなどで賑わっていた。天気も良く、水量も安定していて最高の条件だ！

The crew went for an early start on the final leg of the trip which led from Misato to the Rinkai park opposite the Ambassador Hotel and Disneyland. This photo was shot just after 4 am.

最後の日は早朝の出発となった。この写真は午前４時すぎのもの。最終日は三郷から臨海公園まで。

東京湾をツーリング中。。。

We’ve had a big weekend as usual, lot’s of chasing fast-moving rafts and taking shelter from rain showers. Tomorrow we start a multiple day trip from Minakami, all the way to Tokyo Bay and maybe a bit further if time permits. 4 brave souls have signed up for the trip and will be powering the raft through the flat water sections of the Tone river. Kyle from KSDphoto will be driving the support vehicle and shooting stills and video along the way. We’ll try to update as we go along. The trip will be approximately 170km, and will take somewhere around 5 days depending upon the river flow.

さー、今日で忙しい週末が終わりだ！ラフティングボートを走って追いかける日や雨をしのげる２日間でした。明日は水上を出発し、利根川をラフトで東京へ向かいます。なんと１７０ｋｍものラフティングコースを人力で下ると言う。ラフト船員は全部で６名、そしてKSDphotoのカイルはサポートドライバーとスチール/ビデオカメラマンに勤めます。途中で写真をアップできたらWeekly Photosに載せます！

Today was the first time in two weeks that the Tonegawa water level dropped low enough to raft through the Momiji Canyon. Although hidden from view, it is a beautiful spot to paddle through.
今日は２週間ぶりに利根川の水量が落ち着き、みなかみ町上流のもみじ峡をラフトで下ることができました。普段は人の目にかかることがないがとてもキレイな場所です。

Leaping into the abyss at Fox Canyon! Here you can slide foot-first, head-first or backwards. This course is right near the center of Minakami. フォックス・キャニオンのアビスで頭から、足から、そして後ろ向きで滑ることができる。この写真は大きくジャンプするところだ。みなかみ町の温泉街からすぐの場所にあるよ。

Love the springtime rafting in Japan!　The water is high and the rapids are pumping! Depending on water level, the rafting course gets up to 20km long. I checked the speed of the raft from the car yesterday, and the were going about 40km/hr at one spot. That’s fast!

やっぱり春のラフティングは最高だね！水量が多く、激流も激しいし波が高い。その日の水量によるが最長２０ｋｍのコースができる。昨日は車でラフトの速度を測ってみたけど場所によっては時速４０ｋｍ/ｈも出ていた。超早っ！
